Senator Shehu Sani has turned down an invitation to serve as a judge at the upcoming Miss World Nigeria Beauty Pageant.
The event is set to take place on April 4 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, a media mogul and Sani’s former colleague in the eighth Senate, shared the news via his official social media page on Wednesday, congratulating Sani on his selection.

He wrote: “Hearty congratulations to my good friend, Shehu Sani, on his appointment as a judge for the Miss World Nigeria Beauty Pageant, taking place on April 4 at the Federal Palace Hotel. Kindly ensure you arrive on time, 6:00 PM sharp and come dressed in your finest attire.”
However, Sani declined the offer, citing personal reasons.
“My wives will not be happy if I serve as a Judge. I have not been able to pass judgment on the most beautiful between my wives let alone those I don’t know,” he stated humorously.
The former lawmaker added that he lacked the expertise for such an event and that the timing coincided with the Sallah celebrations, a period he prefers to spend with family and friends.
Sani later edited his response, playfully addressing Murray-Bruce: “Haba Distinguished, You should have sent me a formal letter and with full benefits attached to it after I have passed the Judgment. I appreciate the honour from a good friend. Unfortunately, I’ll be unavailable on that day. I wish you a successful outing.”
