Shearer argues that Arsenal displayed the energy, intensity, and hunger required to ensure Newcastle “didn’t settle for a second.”

British pundit and former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer still believes Arsenal will win the 2025/2026 English Premier League (EPL) title, despite another unconvincing performance on Saturday evening, stating: “I still believe.”
He made the prediction after the Gunners defeated Newcastle 1-0 in a league encounter at the Emirates Stadium.
In a tense affair that kept home fans on edge, Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the match in the first half.
With the narrow victory, Arsenal moved three points clear of their nearest rivals, Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
While analysing the win, Shearer said that despite the scrappy nature of the performance, he remains confident that Mikel Arteta’s side will end the season as Premier League champions.

He argued that the squad possessed the energy, intensity, and hunger needed during the game and “didn’t let Newcastle settle for a second.”
The Newcastle legend further noted that the performance of the North London outfit revealed everything he needed to know about their “mentality”.
“I’m telling you, I still believe Arsenal can win this Premier League title, and anyone who thinks this race is over because of what happened at the Etihad is making a huge mistake,” Shearer said.
He added: “What impressed me the most is Arsenal themselves. Look at today against us [Newcastle United].
“Everyone doubted them; people were questioning their mentality, saying the pressure had gotten to them, but they responded exactly how title contenders should. The energy, the intensity, the hunger—it was all there. They didn’t let Newcastle settle for a second.
“That tells me everything I need to know. Mentally, they’re still right there.”
