Sevilla, two EPL clubs laud Super Eagles’ qualification for 2026 World Cup playoffs

Sevilla joined Fulham and Brentford in praising the impact of their players in the crucial win.

La Liga club, Sevilla and English Premier League (EPL) outfits,  Brentford and Fulham, have taken to social media to celebrate the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.

Speaking via X on Tuesday night, the three European clubs lauded the team for their achievement.

Nigeria thrashed the Benin Republic 4–0 to finish second in Group C and advance to the World Cup playoffs, courtesy of a hat-trick from Victor Osimhen and a goal from Frank Onyeka.

Eric Chelle’s men join the likes of Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo in the playoffs.

Reacting to the victory, Sevilla, Fulham, and Brentford noted that their players contributed to the crucial win.

Taking to their verified social media page, Fulham, who have three Nigerian players—Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze—in their squad, wrote: “Our three Naija boys started in a crucial World Cup qualifying victory, with Samu getting two assists.”

Similarly, Sevilla, who have Super Eagles striker Akor Adams in their team, said: “Akor earned his first start for Nigeria in a 4–0 win to secure a place in the playoffs for the World Cup. We mount.”

Also commenting, Brentford, who have Onyeka in their squad, posted: “Frank the Tank.

“Frank Onyeka’s goal guarantees the Super Eagles a spot in the Play-Offs for next summer’s World Cup.”
