British pundit and ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has criticised caretaker manager Michael Carrick after the Red Devils lost to 10-man Newcastle United on Wednesday night, claiming the manager has been lucky in the team’s last four encounters.

The United legend made his feelings known after the game in a now-viral post shared on his official Instagram page.

Carrick watched as Newcastle defeated Man United 2-1 at St James’ Park in their Premier League Week 29 fixture, despite the hosts playing with 10 men for more than half of the match.

The defeat was his first as Man United’s manager since his return to Old Trafford in January.

Reacting to the loss, Scholes—who had previously campaigned against the appointment of Carrick as permanent manager at the end of the season—slammed his former teammate.

He further noted that the English manager and his players have been ‘crap’ in their last four league games.

“Michael has definitely got something special about him… cos Utd have been crap last 4 games,” Scholes wrote.
