Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has admitted he was not pleased with his team’s 2-1 victory over Mauritania in a friendly on Friday, insisting: “We didn’t play a good game.”
Scaloni made the remarks during a post-match interview at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires, the Argentine capital.
Goals from Enzo Fernández and Nicolás Paz secured the win for the World Cup champions against their African opponents.
Team captain Lionel Messi started on the bench but failed to find the net after being introduced in the second half.

Reacting to the narrow victory, Scaloni noted that his players were below their usual standards.
Speaking via Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine tactician said: “We did not play a good game. We were not at our level.”
He added: “We have to admit that, and we have to improve.”
Argentina are set to face another African side, Zambia, in their next friendly match this Wednesday.
