Barcelona full-back, João Cancelo, has claimed his country, Portugal, are among the favourites to win the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former Manchester City defender made this claim recently during an interview with TNT Sports Mexico.
His assertion follows Portugal’s 0-0 draw against Mexico in an international friendly played on Sunday.
Speaking after the encounter, the 31-year-old boasted that Portugal have Cristiano Ronaldo, who can lead the team to win the World Cup.

Cancelo said, “We should be among the top favourites to win the World Cup 2026 with the quality of players we have.
“Cristiano Ronaldo as well? Of course, yes.”
Portugal are in Group K at the World Cup and will face the likes of Colombia and Uzbekistan.
Following the goalless draw against Mexico, Roberto Martínez’s men will now concentrate on their next friendly against the United States of America on Wednesday.
