Elma Aveiro, the elder sister of football star Cristiano Ronaldo, has taken a swipe at the people of her country, Portugal, following her brother’s decision to leave the national team camp on Wednesday, saying, ‘They don’t deserve to have best at anything’.

She expressed her disgust at the incident in a recent post shared on her official Instagram page.

Ronaldo left the Portuguese training camp on Wednesday ahead of the UEFA Nations League ties against Denmark and Norway, after team head coach Jorge Jesus revealed during his press conference that the striker would not play against the Danish Dynamite.

Although his teammates tried to stop him from leaving, the legend left Copenhagen and later justified his decision on social media.

He wrote: “After the national team coach’s press conference and after a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I decided to leave the national team camp.

”In due course, I will tell all Portuguese people the reasons that led me to leave the national team, to which I have always been devoted.

Reacting to the decision not to play her brother, Elma took to her verified handle and insisted that the people of Portugal do not deserve the best at anything.

She went on to claim that Ronaldo deserves more respect and chided Portuguese reporters for speculating rather than being objective.

”CR7 deserved more respect. The national team deserved more structure,” Elma wrote last night.

She added: “Portuguese journalism deserved more competence and less speculation.

”As for the Portuguese people, well… they don’t deserve to have the best at anything. We are envious, disdainful, and ignorant.”

Ronaldo has since returned to Madrid, meaning he will not play for Portugal against Denmark and Norway.
