Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister, Elma Aveiro has slammed Portugal boss, Fernando Santos for not starting her brother in Portugal’s 6-1 demolition of Switzerland on Tuesday night.

Ronaldo was dropped from the starting XI and replaced with 21-year-old Benfica striker, Goncalo Ramos, who ended up bagging a hattrick during the game.

It was indeed one of Santos’s biggest decisions of his career, as it meant Ronaldo came off the bench for his country in a major tournament for the first time since 2004.

However, even though Ronaldo joined the fray as a 73rd minute substitute, the coach’s decision. proved to be a master’s stroke, as Portugal were richly rewarded on the night.

Reacting to the development. Elma Aveiro, took exception to how the former Manchester United player was treated, claiming the Portuguese tactician humiliated her brother.

Posting an image of the team on Instagram she wrote: “Today we are all together, if you think it has to be like this I am here to see it.

After one follower replied saying she ‘couldn’t believe’ Ronaldo had been dropped and called it a ‘major injustice’, Elma posted another message.

However, as it appeared Ronaldo wasn’t injured and was left on the bench, Elma again posted another Instagram story after the win, first congratulating her country.

She then continued: “Yes Ronaldo is not eternal, yes Ronaldo won’t play forever, unfortunately, he doesn’t score goals now, he’s old, Portugal doesn’t need Ronaldo [clapping emojis].

“We talked about what we heard, all that he did isn’t important, all that he did was forgotten.

“Now they ask for forgiveness and they don’t need him. I will register that and later we’ll talk.

“Rui Santos, what will he apologise for? Now we can f*** who we want.

“It is a shame to humiliate a man who has given so much, but later I will see a lot more.”

After the handsome win, Portugal will now face the sunrise package of this year’s World Cup, Morocco, who beat Spain in their knockout game, in the quarter-final on Saturday.
