Roma Fans might have incurred the wrath of the body in charge of European football, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), due to their unruly behavior after the final of this year’s Europa League in Hungary.

This is because footage that recently emerged online, revealed a moment in which the fans were seen attacking referee, Anthony Taylor, at the Budapest airport, as he tried to catch a flight back to the UK.

Taylor took charge of Wednesday night’s Europa League final, which the Serie A team lost 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla.

Prior to this development, Roma boss, Jose Mourinho had lashed out at the FIFA licensed referee in his post-match press conference over some of his calls.

Mourinho then waited around to confront Taylor and his refereeing team – which also included another Englishman, Michael Oliver at the car park at the Puskas Arena.

“It is a f***ing disgrace, man. It is a f***ing disgrace, man,” the Portuguese said before briefly switching to Italian to continue his rant.

Meanwhile, referees’ body in charge of the English League, PGMOL has said it is appalled by the “unjustified and abhorrent” abuse directed at Taylor in Budapest Airport following the Europa League final.

PGMOL said in a statement: “[We are] aware of videos circulating on social media showing Anthony Taylor and his family being harassed and abused at Budapest Airport.

“We are appalled at the unjustified and abhorrent abuse directed at Anthony and his family as he tries to make his way home from refereeing the Uefa Europa League final.

“We will continue to provide our full support to Anthony and his family.”
