​Portugal on Wednesday night beat Nigeria 2-1 in an international friendly match ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
​In the encounter played at the 29,000-capacity Estádio Dr Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria, the Seleção das Quinas opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after Pedro Neto found space inside the box and drilled the ball home.
​The Super Eagles, who were looking to cause a major upset against Cristiano Ronaldo and co. after drawing 2-2 with Poland one week ago, levelled the scores 14 minutes later thanks to a powerful run and finish from Akor Adams.

​With the game looking set to end in a stalemate, Francisco Conceição cut in and curled in a sublime finish to win it for the former European champions.
​The friendly is Nigeria’s final match of the June international break, while Roberto MartÃnez’s men have also played their last preparation match before heading to the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
