Popular Nollywood director Dimbo Atiya dies at 52

​Award-winning Nollywood director and producer Dimbo Atiya has passed away at the age of 52.

​His death was announced on Thursday by the founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, in a post shared on his official Instagram handle.

​According to him, Atiya, who was known for masterminding hit television series like Halita and Sons of the Caliphate, reportedly died on Thursday morning.

​Oloketuyi wrote: “Dimbo Atiya is dead. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Details later.”

​Also confirming his demise, actor Mofe Duncan shared a picture of the deceased on Instagram and wrote: “God no, not Dimbo. I’m devastated. One of the greatest minds in the entertainment industry.”

​As of the time of this report, the cause of Dimbo’s death remains unknown. The news comes just hours after the passing of fellow movie star Tope Osoba.
