Police have denied knowledge of the whereabouts of Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) president, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, who was reported missing on Saturday night at about 7pm after alleged abduction by gunmen in Imo.

Imo Police Command spokesperson Henry Okoye clarified in a statement that Igboayaka is not in police custody but said the command has launched investigation to find him.

Okoye urged members of the public to provide the police with information that could help identify the kidnappers.

An eyewitness, a family source, disclosed that about seven armed men dressed in black arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV and stormed Igboayaka’s residence at Works Layout in Owerri where they abducted him.

According to the source, family and friends became apprehensive after repeated unsuccessful attempts to reach him on phone immediately after the attack.

“Since this sad news broke, attempts by teeming members of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, family members, friends, and associates to reach him through his mobile lines to ascertain his whereabouts have failed, as all his lines were switched off immediately after the ugly incident,” he said.

Igbo National Council (INC) president Chilos Godsent has implored security agencies in the state, particularly the police, to investigation and uncover the abductors of Igboayaka.
