POEMS: Inmates of time

-

By Victor Uzodinma Chukwuma

14. Our god is in dilemma

The river has departed

The banks.

Before my searching eyes,

Despots dance.

Madmen inside,

Madman outside.

Sucking from my roots

The oil of my heart.

I feel for your presence,

But my ankles are yet in chains.

Your breath hum in my ears,

But it is not clearing in my mist.

Tell me,

Oh! Tell me,

Shall I live,

Am I lost?

Tell me,

Oh! Tell me,

My last resort,

Am I gone?

 Tell me,

Oh! Tell me,

The god of our fathers,

Where is your intercession?

Am In utter darkness.

15. Nude of emotion

Don’t you remember?

Wont you now?

My eyes are blinded;

My feet and long arms

Reach no more.

Turn back,

Let the light from your soul

Drip into my darkness.

Look through your window,

And see my fugitive-ghost lurking.

From your fortress,

Have mercy.

My eyes are blind,

My limbs are lame.
