Plateau Governor Mutfwang addresses attacked community from armoured vehicle, netizens react

A dramatic scene unfolded on Monday when Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the scene of Sunday’s attack in Angwan Rukuba, a community in Jos North Local Government Area, while addressing residents from inside an armoured vehicle.
At least 12 persons were killed when gunmen opened fire on an open-air bar in the community. The incident triggered a revenge attack that claimed the lives of at least another 12 people. In response, the Plateau State Government immediately imposed a 24-hour curfew to restore calm.
The governor visited the affected community on Monday to commiserate with residents and assure them of their safety. However, he delivered his message while remaining inside the armoured vehicle.
The visit has sparked widespread reactions on social media.
Ace journalist Pelu Awofeso wrote on his Facebook page that even in war-torn Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky does not address his people from an armoured tank.
He said: “See what the governor of Plateau State is doing. Even Zelensky, who is presiding over a country at war, doesn’t speak to the people from an armoured tank. So very disappointing leadership.”
On X, @michaelagiri wrote: “What a failed leadership. He had to come in an armoured tank to face his poor people who are emotionally and mentally scarred, like he is worried he will be attacked. I have a lot to say but I’m so pained to say anything.”
@LuvSwagzx wrote: “Someone that they should gather stone and stone. If you’re with a clear conscience you won’t be needing an armoured vehicle to talk to your people.”
@Delcan16 wrote: “If the governor can be in an armoured vehicle, what is left? The state is gone already.”
