Barcelona midfielder, Pedri has blamed his team’s 4-1 annihilation by Sevilla on their inability to handle the tactics employed by the Spanish outfit.

He made this known on Sunday while speaking with journalists during his post match interview.

Needing victory to reclaim the leadership of La Liga from arch-rivals, Real Madrid, Barcelona suffered their worst loss against Sevilla since a 4-0 defeat in 1951.

Former Barcelona winger, Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring from the penalty spot after visiting captain Ronald Araujo had bundled Isaac Romero over by the byeline.

Romero then doubled his team’s advantage from an incisive counter-attack before Rashford replied from Pedri’s back-post cross.

Jose Angel Carmona and Akor Adams scored in the closing minutes of the encounter to  compound a miserable afternoon for Hansi Flick’s side.

Speaking after the defeat, Pedri said the defending champions lacked many things against the hosts.

He also noted that the Catalan club has never played as poorly as they did against Sevilla.

Pedri said, “We are lacking many things, honestly. With the ball, we didn’t know how to break their man-to-man pressure. We also lacked intensity in defense.

“The team was bad in the first half. I think we have not played a match this poorly before. We need to be honest with ourselves.”
