Veteran Nollywood actor and broadcaster, Patrick Doyle has sent tongues wagging on social media after claiming that the popular Christian slogan, “What God cannot do doesn’t exist” has been proven to be “silly”.

The 62-year-old thespian made this known recently via his verified Instagram page, where he also frowned at those still chanting the slogan for not accepting their “folly”.

Speaking on the popular slogan via his IG handle, Patrick Doyle wrote: “Some people are just too obstinate to admit their folly. Even after that slogan ‘What God cannot do doesn’t exist’ has been proven to be silly, they still continue to chant it.”

Similarly, Doyle took to his Facebook page, to claim he believes that God’s creative work was completed on the seventh day of creation and was deeply present in religious teachings.

He, therefore, argued  that using “What God cannot do doesn’t exist” as a slogan is both irrational and insulting.

He stressed that the popular saying, “Heaven helps those who help themselves,” while it may sound wise, it has subtly introduced the false doctrine of “works of men” into Christian theology.

He went on to state that the above doctrine threatened to overshadow the profound truth of the “Finished Work of Christ.”

He further cautioned Christian slogan copywriters to heed the slogan, “If it breeds doubt, do without.”

He added that slogans, no matter how woke they appear, can erode the efficacy of profound scripture.

After the controversial post surfaced on the internet, it generated a heated debate among his fans and other netizens.

While the assertion did not sit down well with many, especially Christians who trooped to the comment section to lambast him, others who were desirous to understand him better, beckoned on the actor to clarify his statement.
