Professor of Law and former Edo State Governor, Oserheimen Osunbor, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of doing everything within its power to destroy opposition parties in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election.
He levelled the allegation on Friday while appearing as a guest on the Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’.
His comments follow recent court cases that have hampered the opposition—particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—and the APC’s reactions to these legal challenges.
While speaking during the interview, Osunbor took a swipe at the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his recent remarks about the ADC.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives had allegedly told a member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, who is an ADC member, to remain in the opposition party and “destroy” it.
Reacting to the development, the former governor said: “This government is doing everything within its power, and even beyond its power, to destroy opposition political parties.
“Independence of the legislature and independence of the judiciary no longer exist in Nigeria.
“Recently, social media witnessed a viral video of the Chief of Staff to Mr President telling a Reps member to remain in the ADC, fight them, and scatter them.”
