Adeleke, who is the incumbent governor of Osun State, is seeking a second term on the platform of the Accord Party.

The Accord Party candidate and incumbent governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, is currently leading the state’s ongoing governorship election, according to the results uploaded so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He pulled away from other contestants after the electoral body released the results of 24 of the 30 Local Government Areas in the state.
A total of 15 political parties were expected to participate in the election; two, however, withdrew before its commencement, leaving 13 candidates to jostle for the governorship position.
Of the 24 LGAs released, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won eight, while the Accord Party has secured the remaining 16.
Adeleke is currently leading with 347,730 votes, while his closest challenger, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, follows with 283,653 votes.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, is in a distant third place with 13,143 votes.
Collation of results is still ongoing across the state, with the final result expected to be announced late Saturday or in the early hours of Sunday.
