OSABA holds exhibition bouts in memory of late Aiyegbeni

In memory of a great boxing enthusiast and promoter, Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association (OSABA) and the family of the late Chief Francis Aiyegbeni have concluded plan to stage an exhibition boxing bout in his honour.

The event, slated for the premises of Wallan Hotel Ring-road Ibadan, according to the daughter of the deceased, Edna Aiyegbeni, is expected to be attended by the new chairman of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, and the secretary of the body, Remi Aboderin, and members of the boxing family in Nigeria.

The female boxing promoter popularly called the Iron Lady thanked all the associate of her late dad, especially within the boxing fraternity for not allowing the efforts of Chief Aiyegbeni who died on May 7, 2016 in developing the game in Nigeria go away in vain, while promising to continue the development of boxing from where his dad stopped.

The chairman, OSABA, Chief Baron Akintunde Opaleye, also revealed that Aiyegbeni Boxing Academy would be launched during the memorial exhibition bouts, stressing that the state association has been working very hard to actualize the project.

“The Boxing Academy was conceptualized by OSABA to introduce boxing sport to parents as a game that is good and save for their wards even right from their early ages, and to immortalize the late boxing promoter who had done very much in his life times for boxing in Nigeria”, Opaleye noted.
