#OndoDecides: EFCC officials monitor exercise to prevent vote buying

Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are visibly seen in some polling unit monitoring vote buying and selling in the Ondo governorship election.

Vote buying has become a feature of Nigeria’s election where money is exchanged for vote. The big political parties could pay up to N5,000 per vote in polling units where their opponents are particularly strong.

Vote buying is also an electoral offence which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not been able to address. Perhaps, the involvement of the EFCC may help stem the tide.
