Rapper, singer, songwriter and music executive, Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, simply known as Olamide, has argued that it is much earlier to manage a record label than pursue a career in music.
He made this known during a recent interview with popular YouTuber, Korty EO.
According to the 36-year-old, it was easy to make the distinction because prior to owning a record label, he has been performing as an artist.
The YBNL boss further explained that being a singer, he understands the feelings and behaviours of the artists signed to his label.
Speaking during the chat, Olamide said, “It’s way much easier for me being a music executive than an artist because I’m an artist so I’ve an understanding of the needs of creatives.
“I know the way we think, I know the way we see things. I know when we are in an element. I know when we want to run mad. I know when we are getting high on our supply. I know when we are getting high on the fame, life, money and success. So, it’s easier for me to deal with creatives. I try not to bite more than I can chew.”
While addressing the controversy around rappers switching into singing, he said, “You can’t box me and call me a rapper— I love music.”
