Nigerian singer, Olamide Ayodeji, popularly called Olamide has defended his controversial new song, Logo Benz featuring Lil Kesh.
In a Tweet on Friday, the singer said he only sang it to allow the third party have a look into the current state of Nigerian youths.
He wondered why the song would generate so much controversy seeing that it mirrors the society and that even the Nigerian films industry does the same in their movies.
“Logo Benz is for the 3rd party to have a glimpse into the current state of youths in our society. (Runs girls x runs boys) “ I’m not sure if there’s anything like 2 much awareness, but pardon me if there is. It’s all over the news, it’s always been in movies, don’t box musicians,” Olamide said in the tweet.
The owner of YBNL (YBNL is an acronym for Yahoo Boys No Laptop) record label has been flayed by Nigerians for encouraging cyber crime and ritual killing in his song.
Last year, Olamide was blasted on social media for also encouraging drug peddling and consumption among the youths when he sang Chemistry.
Nigerians have called for the boycott of OLIC, the new song. They have also called on The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission to ban the song.
The NBC is yet to react.
Earlier this year, Folarin Falana, known as Falz released a song, This is Nigeria, in which he highlighted the ills in the society. The song was banned by the NBC for featuring young ladies in hijab.
