Ogundiran wins Women’s 100m at Glasgow 2026 Trials in Lagos

United States-based athlete, Blessing Ogundiran outpaced her rivals at the ongoing national trials for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games when she took-out her rivals to win the women 100 meters race in 11:12 seconds at Yaba Tech Sports Centre.
She was followed by Miracle Oluebube Ezechukwu who clocked 11:15 seconds to place second while the third position went to Olayinka Olaide who finished in 11:28 seconds.
Speaking shortly after the race, an excited Ogundiran expressed happiness for the victory especially as it came amid tough competitors. She promised to do the country proud in Glasgow.
“I’m really excited by being a champion of this highly competitive race. All the finalists were good runners who stretched me to the limit, but I am happy it ended well.
“Right now, my focus is preparing well ahead of the Commonwealth Games where I hope to give a good account of myself and have a podium finish at the second most important Games after the Olympics,” she stated.
Meanwhile, United States based Ebuka Enekwechi maintained his rating as a world class athlete by winning the men shot-put event with a throw of 21: 46 meters.
