Ogun police raise alarm over rising missing persons cases
By Jeffrey Agbo
The Ogun State Police Command has expressed deep concern over a marked increase in missing persons cases across the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abeokuta, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, revealed that the trend has affected individuals across all age groups, with only a small number of those reported missing successfully found.
“We encourage everyone to prioritise their safety by maintaining a heightened sense of security to avoid becoming a victim,” she said.
According to Odutola, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has introduced essential guidelines to ensure the safety of residents while addressing this pressing issue.

Some of these guidelines include parents being advised against allowing their children to use commercial transportation services with unknown individuals and young people being encouraged to activate digital communication and location-sharing features on their mobile devices particularly when travelling or in distress.
Odutola also reiterated the police’s commitment to raising public awareness and fostering community engagement to combat this troubling development.
