Nigeria picked up yet another gold medal at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday after Samuel Ogazi won the men’s 400m event.
The 20-year-old crossed the finish line with a gap of about six metres between him and the chasing pack, clocking 44.25 seconds to win the event’s final at the Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow, Scotland.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards claimed silver in 44.82s, while South Africa’s Zakithi Nene took bronze in 45.21s.

Nigeria’s second finalist in the event, Edidiong Okon Udo, finished off the podium in eighth position with a time of 45.81s.
In the women’s 400m final, Ella Onojuvwevwo claimed the bronze medal in 51.00 seconds, missing out on silver by just 0.01s.
Jamaica’s Dejanea Oakley won gold in 50.21s, while Barbados’ Sada Williams claimed silver in 50.99s.
