Obi raises stakes with door-to-door campaign to reach the grassroots

Peter Obi has raised the election stakes with a door-to-door, market-to-market campaign, starting with Nasarawa, to ensure the grassroots get his message that Nigerians can turn their negative narratives to positive by choosing the right leader.

He launched his presidential run on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) in Lafia last Saturday and Nasarawa LP Chairman Alexander Emmanuel announced on Monday the launch is being built on statewide.

Emmanuel said a door-to-door and market-to-market campaign in towns and villages across the 13 councils has begun, in order to familiarise the electorate with the manifesto of Obi and his running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed.

LP targets a minimum of two million votes for the Obi-Datti ticket in Nasarawa, he stressed, and commended national and state party stakeholders for the successful inauguration of the campaign in Lafia on 29 October.

He also expressed gratitude to LP supporters who came from all parts of the country to show their love and support for Obi and Datti, pledging the party will work for the good of Nigeria if elected to power.

A lot of work to do

“The Labour Party in Nasarawa State today [Monday] began a door-to-door campaign for our presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti.

“We will be visiting towns and villages across the 13 LGAs of the state because we are targeting a minimum of two million votes for them in 2023,” Emmanuel said, per The PUNCH.

“Our presidential campaign flag off was very successful, so we felt there was no need for us to keep waiting because we are aware that we have a lot of work to do.

“I want to commend all our party stakeholders across the country for their efforts thus far. I also want to thank our supporters for the love they showed to Obi and Datti last Saturday.

“They stood under the scorching sun just to identify with the Labour Party. We promise not to disappoint them if we emerge victorious in 2023.”
