Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that Godwin Obaseki was disqualified from seeking re-election by a man who has no certificate.
Obaseki is the governor of Edo State. He was disqualified from seeking re-election by the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening committee.
The committee panel disqualified Obaseki on the grounds that his Higher School and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharged certificates were defective.
Obaseki later met Wike over the weekend for a possible move to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
But Wike tweeted today, June 15, that it was ironical for a man who has no certificate to disqualify another man over the same certificate issue.
“Obaseki was disqualified by someone who doesn’t have a certificate, what an irony !” he said via his twitter handle @GovWike.
Wike did not mention the name of the man whom he claimed disqualified Obaseki. But the comments of Nigerians under the tweet fingered the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.
Oshiomhole, who was a former governor of Edo State, has been locked in a supremacy battle with his successor, Obaseki
@ayekhemheferdi1reacted:“Oshiomhole studied in Oxford College. He is more educated than you. You can’t even stand in a debate, talk less of talk show,” he said.
@FerdinandObior1 immediately responded: “No be only Oxford college, na Oxford biscuit. When did Kaduna textile company become your Oxford,Oga?” he queried.
@Uyoh54 argued: “But the man without certificate looks and behaves more educated than you. Na Wah o.…”
@Buchi_Patric disagreed: “Which Oshiomhole looks and behaves more educated…? It’s like you were quick to type the nonsense that just came to your head. I laugh in Mandarin.”
In the tweet, Wike also argued that the Nigeria’s Governors Forum (NGF) was incapable of defending governors.
He recalled that when former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, withdrew his security details, the NGF then led by former Zamfara Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, could not do anything.
