Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, re-elected on Saturday September,19 Edo State gubernatorial election to serve the State for second term of four years, was on Tuesday presented the Certificate of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the winner of the gubernatorial election. His deputy, Mr. Philip Shaibu was also with him at INEC’s office in Benin to receive the certificate.
The certificate was presented to re-elected Governor Obaseki by the National Commissioner supervising Edo, Bayelsa and Rivers States, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu.
The presentation of the certificate of return was sequel to the declaration of Godwin Obaseki by INEC as the winner in recent gubernatorial election held last Saturday in the 18 Local Governments of Edo State.
Obaseki defeated his closest opponent, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu of All Progressive Congress (APC) with a wide margin of more than 80,000 votes.
When the certificate was given to the winners, people commented on their social media handle and congratulated Obaseki and his deputy.
One of the comments was; “This will serve as a warning to other politicians that thinks we the people have no power. Mr Obaseki it’s just 4 years, use it wisely…”
