A man on the watch list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), has surrendered himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspect, Felix Osilama Okpoh, is said to have been involved in cyber fraud targeted at Americans to the tune of $6 million.

The EFCC said they have commenced investigation on the suspect.

“The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has commenced investigation of one Felix Osilama Okpoh, an alleged fraudster on the watchlist of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, FBI, for his involvement in a $6m internet fraud,” the EFCC statement via its twitter handle said.

The surrender of the alleged internet fraudster has raised some alarm. Why did he decide to willingly surrender when he has not been declared wanted by the police and EFCC?

A twitter user, @iampizzy2, said the alleged internet fraudster must be up to something.

“Lol….. the dude is up to something. Local man is wise,” he said.

@mahud_razak suggested that the alleged fraudster may be hoping for a Nigerian trial than appearing before a judge in the United States.

“He is very smart. He knows that American court will be tougher on him than that of Nigeria,” he said.
