NSF: Fights averted at Abeokuta gold event, as women golfers alleged bias
Fights averted at Abeokuta golf centre following the disqualification of Kano women golfers for allegedly cheating.
Kano women golfers who are at the final stage of picking a medal suddenly, officiating officials claims that the players cheated on their records.
Investigations conducted by our reporter allegedly revealed that as time the Kano golfers started competing for medals, the chance of securing a medals were dashed by the officiating officials.
Efforts made by the Acting chairman of Kano state sports commission Ibrahim Umar Fagge to find out the causes of disqualification, officials failed to provide the proof of their actions.
Ibrahim Umar Fagge called on the National Sports commission and key stakeholders to intervent and save the image of golf at the national sports festival and other future championships.
The Kano pyramid side accused the technical director of the golf section Jide for his biased judgement allegedly to favour Ogun state.
The Acting chairman however, said it’s unfair after the state prepared well for the festival, somebody just undermined the image of the game and festival at large”
Our reporter gathered that golf officials have deleted the draws of the event at a WhatsApp platform of match officials which according to the sources, attempted at denting the image of Ogun state government and the National Sports Commission’s effort.
Efforts made to contact the technical director of golf, Mr Jide failed.
However, after the intervention of some match officials, Kano were awarded the Gold medal.
