Nigerians have taken to social media to blast Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin after he mistook popular disc jokey, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, aka DJ Switch, for DJ Commissioner Wysei.
TheNiche had earlier reported that the police apologised over the apparently fake story on the arrest of the popular #EndSARS activist.
The Lagos Police PPRO in a post on his X handle corrected the impression that the security outfit arrested DJ Switch, saying it was DJ Commissioner Wysei, that was apprehended and taken to the magistrate court in Eti Osa over allegations bothering on fraud and assault.
He also apologised for the inconveniences caused media outlets that published the news and appeased the disc jockey.
Speaking via his social media page, Hundeyin tweeted, “There is a mixup from our end. Arrested person is DJ Commissioner Wysei not DJ Switch.
“Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning.
Apologies to DJ Switch too. ”

However, despite the apology, netizens took to the comment section of the post to lambast the PPRO for goofing and spreading fake news.
While some felt he was being mischievous, others agreed with DJ Switch, who while debunking the reports claimed the perpetrators intended to tarnish her image.
An X user identified as @davidoghe wrote: “Naso una go dey mislead the public, only God knows how many innocent Nigerians have been locked up in jails for your mixup from your end.”
Another internet user @alakowee said: “Deep down we know say una mean DJ Switch.”
@holy_hero: added “Be like say DJ Switch dey live rent free for una head.. She really get una gan.”
Also commenting on the saga, @NobleBenz said: “Making such mistake is dangerous and detrimental to her brand. This is a grave mistake on your part and making an apology online isn’t enough.”
While @chukwura_a wrote: “How do you guys manage to live with this type of hate and still claims to serve everyone. And if I may ask , what’s the crime of DJ switch..I thought that case is closed..hate will continue will keel you.”
