A notorious bandit identified as Abu A.K. and several of his gang members have been neutralized by troops of the Nigerian Army, under Operation FANSAN YANMA, during a joint security operation in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The development was disclosed on Wednesday in a now-trending post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to him, the slain bandit, who was linked to the notorious warlord Ado Aleiro, was intercepted after sneaking into Tsafe town to attend the weekly Friday cattle market, his first visit in about five years.
Sources said the bandit, who had long been on the military’s wanted list for killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling, was trailed and arrested with the help of intelligence gathered from locals.
“Following credible information, troops moved swiftly and apprehended him. He was later neutralised during an exchange of fire as he attempted to escape custody,” Makama quoted a source.
Security officials further confirmed that Abu A.K. was responsible for the recent killing of three construction workers with Setraco Construction Company in Tsafe.
Troops also launched another offensive in the northern part of Tsafe forests, killing more bandits and recovering arms, including a Boxer-type rifle.
