Nigerian Idol winner, Progress, says ladies are wooing him

Progress also said he intends to go into collaboration with some established musicians in a bid to stay relevant in the industry

Progress Chukwuyem, the winner of season 7 of Nigerian Idol, has admitted that a lot of ladies have been sliding into his ‘DM’ on social media, claiming to be in love with him.

He made the revelation during a chat with PUNCH when he was asked how he has been coping with ladies flocking around him since he won the TV reality musical contest. 

Progress walked away with N100 million worth of prizes. Cash Prize of N30 million, a brand new SUV, a bigi branded refrigerator, and a year’s supply of bigi drinks after emerging the winner.

The 21-year-old will also get to record an EP and a music video, a weekend getaway from TravelBeta, and a DStv Explora fully installed with a 12 months premium subscription.

When asked if he was in a relationship before coming for the show. 

He said “No, I do not”

On how he will handle ladies who might be coming in droves after he became famous for winning the competition.  

” I will just block them out. I am not ready. I am in a relationship with my career, and focus is on becoming a better artiste. They (girls) are already coming and some have actually sent me messages on social media, but I am not interested in that right now.” Progress added.

He also said that even though winning the competition has not translated to commercial success for some of the past winners of the competition, he is determined to use the platform to achieve fame. 

The singer added that he intends to go into collaboration with some established musicians in a bid to remain relevant in the industry.

He said, ” I am not in a relationship with any of those people (past reality show winners who didn’t achieve much with the platform), so I have never asked any of them what the problem was. I am just going to try not to be like that. 

“Before coming for the show, I had role models that I wanted to work with, and with this platform, I will reach out to those people and try to work with them. I will learn from people that have been in the industry (for some time) and try my best to stay relevant.”
