The President Bola Tinubu-led administration has condemned the recent murders of two Nigerians in South Africa, calling for immediate, thorough, and transparent investigations into their deaths.
This was revealed in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The deceased were identified as Bishop Taiwo Michael Fakunle and James Uchechukwu Nwankwo.

The statement noted that while Fakunle was murdered at his residence in Kensington, Johannesburg, Nwankwo was allegedly killed following “gruesome interrogation techniques” by officers of the South African Police Service in Somerset West, Cape Town.
The Federal Government added that the deaths were particularly disturbing given prevailing concerns over violence targeting Nigerians and other African nationals in South Africa.
Demanding that those responsible be brought to justice in accordance with the law, the Federal Government called on South African authorities to immediately commence investigations.
”These killings, happening at a time when foreigners, particularly Africans, are grappling with the devastating impacts of widespread xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks in South Africa, raise serious questions about the safety of foreigners in the country and the commitment of the South African authorities to curbing targeted attacks,” the statement read.
