“This is big and massive as far as sports development is concerned and I must commend the sponsors for their consistency,” Okocha told journalists.

“I am here to support the event as well enjoy myself.”

Kiprotich set a championship record when he won the men’s title in 2:13:04, just ahead of the record of 2:15:23 set by Abraham Kiptum in 2017.

Another Kenyan, Kiboss Ronny, finished second on 2:13:26, while a third runner from the East African nation – Victor Benjamin – finished third.

Kiprotich claimed the top prize of $50,000, while the second and third place finishers received $40,000 and $30,000, respectively.
