Trinidadian rapper, singer and songwriter Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, better known as Nicki Minaj, has said there are powerful figures dictating things in the music industry who can make talented artists “almost invisible” if they do not abide by their rules.

She made this known recently while appearing as a guest on the latest episode of The Bryce Crawford Show podcast.

According to her, most of the challenges she and other artists face in the music industry are caused by those figures.

Although she declined to name them, Minaj added that those powerful music figures treat musicians like ‘properties’ to make money for them, and sabotage those who don’t work for them.

The Side to Side hitmaker further highlighted that she has faced “constant spiritual warfare” for not playing by the rules of those powerful music figures.

She noted that if she had known the music industry was deeply spiritual, she would have come better prepared.
