It will be recalled that the acting President was last week disqualified by the Electoral Committee headed by Amoni Biambo, citing irregularities in his nomination form thus, making Mr. Giwa the sole candidate.

Also disqualified were a former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Association, Taiwo Ogunjobi, for being under ban while Segun Odegbami, was disqualified for non-endorsement of his nomination form among other irregularities.

According to Biambo, the Acting President had picked nomination form to contest as First Vice President but returned the form as a presidential candidate without attaching receipt for the purchase of the form.

Consequently, Umeh protested and even confronted the Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo, wondering why he should be so humiliated.

We gathered that the Appeals Committee headed by Dotun Coker, cleared the Acting President at the weekend, following outrage that greeted the clearance of a sole candidate, Giwa, for the election.

Coker, declined to speak with our correspondent when contacted on phone.

He referred her to the Secretary of the Appeals Committee, Lawrence Katken, who confirmed to our correspondent that the meeting was held on Saturday.
