Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has rued the impact of the red card issued to his team, Besiktas, during their 3-2 home defeat to Istanbul rivals, Fenerbahce.
Besiktas led 2-0 courtesy of strikes from El Bilal Touré and Emirhan Topcu in the 5th and 22nd minutes respectively.
However, a red card issued by the centre referee to Besiktas’ Orkun Kökçü shifted momentum in favour of visiting Fenerbahce, who rallied to claim maximum points.

Speaking after the derby, Ndidi claimed that the numerical advantage contributed significantly to Besiktas’ defeat.
The Nigeria international, however, emphasized the importance of the team staying united and focusing on the task ahead.
“The match was going well for us. We even took a 2-0 lead. When we conceded a goal after the red card, the opponent gained momentum,” Ndidi told beIN SPORTS.
“We wanted to stay in the match. We had a fighting spirit. We need to build on that a little more. We know we have quality. We must all stay united.”
