Natasha’s six months suspension: Shehu Sani says he almost got same treatment after blowing whistle on Senators’ humongous earnings
Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has recalled how his then colleagues in the Senate almost handed him a six-month suspension after blowing the whistle on senators’ monthly salaries.
Sani made the disclosure hours after the Senator representing Kogi Central received a six-month suspension over a stand-off with Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Natasha alleged that her troubles in the Senate started over alleged sexual demands from Akpabio, which she said she declined.
The Senate on March 6, unanimously voted via voice to suspend her for six months. No senator voted against the recommendation to kick her out of the Senate for six months without pay.
Recalling his own experience, Shehu Sani said when he exposed the humongous earnings of senators, they almost suspended him for six months, save for the intervention of then Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
He said: “When I publicly disclosed the salaries and allowances of the Senators, it nearly earned me a SIX months suspension if not for Divine Intervention, Saraki and Ekwerenmadu’s immediate rescue. Just know that if you are there and you blow whistle too loudly, you will be “On your Own.” No senator go bring him head or neck to support you.”
