NASS extends recess, shifts plenary resumption to March 5

The national assembly has postponed the resumption of plenary, earlier scheduled for February 24, 2026.

Both chambers had adjourned plenary for two weeks to allow their committees to conduct the 2026 budget defence sessions for ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as government parastatals.

In a notice issued on Monday, Kamoru Ogunlana, clerk to the national assembly, said the postponement is to enable committees conclude ongoing budget defence sessions.

“This postponement is to enable Committees of the Assembly to conclude ongoing budget defence sessions,” the notice reads.

“Plenary will now reconvene in both chambers on Thursday, 5th March 2026 at 11:00 a.m.

“Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members are kindly requested to take note of the new resumption date and time.

“The Leadership regrets any inconvenience the postponement may have caused.”
