Napoli currently tops Group A with 6 points after winning their games against Liverpool and Ranger, while Ajax occupy the third position after a loss and a win against the same opponents.

Osimhen was initially expected to be on the bench for the Partenopeans’ clash at Johan Cruijff ArenA, Amsterdam, but reports from Italy suggest he is not fully fit to make an appearance.

The 27-year-old Nigerian striker has been on the sidelines since September 7, when he picked up a hamstring injury during Napoli’s UCL opening game against Premier League side  Liverpool.

The injury made him miss out on Nigeria’s friendly against Algeria in September, and was supposed to rule him out of action for four to six weeks.

He also missed out on the encounter against Ola Aina’s Torino and watched the game from the stands despite earlier reports indicating that the former Lille man would be available for selection for the game.

However, the Nigerian international may have to wait till next weekend before he can make his comeback against his compatriot, Cyriel Desser when Napoli face Cremonese on Sunday.

According to Napoli Magazine, Osimhen is very close to full recovery, but considering Giovanni Simeone and Giacomo Raspadori’s form, they are in no haste to throw the Nigerian striker into the thick of the action and risk further injury to their star man.
