Fenerbahce manager, Jose Mourinho, has told new Arsenal striker, Viktor Gyokeres, that the competition in England is tougher than Portugal.
The Portuguese tactician made this known during a recent interview with Canal 11.
Gyokeres signed for the North London outfit in a transfer that cost as much as €73million.
The 27-year-old is expected to finally help Mikel Arteta’s side to lift the English Premier League (EPL) trophy after coming second in three consecutive seasons.
Speaking on the Swedish forward’s ability to make a mark in England, Mourinho admitted that he’ll find the league tougher than the Portuguese league.

He, however, added that Gyokeres has the potential to score many goals in the EPL.
He also dispelled rumour that his side, Fenerbahce, attempted to sign the centre-forward in the ongoing transfer window.
While assessing Gyokeres during the chat, Mourinho said, “He is a great player, I don’t have any doubts of that.
“But Sporting had a way of playing that either depended on him or was adapted to him, I’m not sure how Hugo Viana and Amorim thought initially.
“Still, he has great potential. Obviously in England he will face stronger teams, but he is a great player.
“Unfortunately, out of the thousands of lies that have been said throughout the transfer market, it was also a lie that he would go to Fenerbahce.”
Arsenal will open their 2025/2026 EPL account with a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
