Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has said he will not recruit Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal, despite acknowledging that he “is a very good player”.
This was revealed on Thursday morning by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a post shared on his official X handle, quoting El Chiringuito.
Mourinho was first appointed by Real Madrid on 31 May 2010, but left the Spanish giants in June 2013 after winning three major domestic trophies: one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and one Supercopa de España.
The Portuguese tactician was re-appointed for a second stint on 11 June 2026, signing a three-year contract after leaving Benfica.
According to Romano, when Mourinho was asked if he would sign Lamine Yamal, he admitted that the winger is talented but rejected the idea, stating that Real Madrid already has the best players.
The former Chelsea manager said: “He’s a very good player, but no.
“We already have the best players.”
Meanwhile, Yamal was part of the Barcelona squad that won the last Spanish title, featuring 26 times and scoring 16 goals during the campaign.
