Motorcycle-triggered IED explosion kills two in Zamfara

​A motorcycle-triggered improvised explosive device (IED) blast has reportedly claimed the lives of two civilians in Zamfara State.

​The deadly incident was disclosed in a recent post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his official X handle.

​According to Makama, the explosion occurred on Wednesday, 26 August 2026, at about 8.04 am along the Gurusu–Gwashi road in the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.

​He further revealed that troops of 1 Brigade, deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gwashi, responded to reports of the explosion.

​’Preliminary findings indicated that a motorcycle had triggered the explosive device,’ Makama wrote.

​He went on to say the remains of a male and a female civilian recovered from the scene were subsequently evacuated to Bukkuyum General Hospital for further necessary action.

​Makama added that following the incident, troops have taken over the area to prevent further attacks and deny suspected terrorists freedom of movement.
