British pundit and former Manchester City defender, Micah Richards, has urged Arsenal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, saying he offers “something different” from what the current Gunners strikers bring.

He gave the advice to Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, while speaking on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast.

Richards’ comments come after the North London outfit failed to win the UEFA Champions League (UCL) following a loss on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Speaking on the show about the need for Álvarez, the former right-back insisted that Arteta needs another striker to bolster his attacking options for next season.

He added that while Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres have done well, the Argentine international will add something different to the team.

“I think they need another striker. Kai Havertz is outstanding in terms of technical ability, and Viktor Gyokeres has done well in his first season,” Richards said.

He continued: “But if they could get someone like Julian Alvarez, that would just give Arsenal something different. He’s one of the best strikers in world football going into the World Cup, and he’s already won one of those with Argentina.”
