Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State in the upcoming gubernatorial election in the state has urged Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde to practice what he is preaching by backing Atiku Abubakar, their party’s presidential candidate at the election tribunal.
The PDP gubernatorial aspirant made this known during a recent retreat organised for the main opposition party’s elected officials in Bauchi State, where he told Makinde to back Atiku’s push to reclaim his mandate, saying such action “will show that the healing has truly started.”
Speaking during the retreat, Melaye said: “I just want to start by appreciating the comment of Governor Seyi Makinde this morning, particularly where he said, ‘healing starts now.”
“And the way to start that healing is, I would be glad if between now, next week, and two weeks that we’ll be at the tribunal, to see Governor Seyi Makinde walk into the tribunal venue and sit down, to support the party, our candidate.”

Prior to this development, the Oyo governor, while speaking at the same event said the party went through a lot during the last election and that it was time to heal.
Former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, Makinde and ex-governors of Benue, Enugu and Abia states worked against Atiku during the last presidential election under a political coalition known as the G-5.
While Makinde and Wike, who led the group supported President Bola Tinubu, the other 3 members backed Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
