Obi also promised to begin addressing the country’s challenges starting from the North, noting that he understands the root of Nigeria’s problems.

The Labour Party (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to focus on his competence to deliver the dividends of democracy—rather than his ethnicity or religious inclinations—when heading to the polls.
He made these remarks on Monday night during an appearance as a guest on an Arise TV programme.
Obi, who recently defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is planning to contest the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
However, he will first have to contend with other political heavyweights, such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, to clinch the ADC ticket.

Speaking during the interview, the former Anambra State Governor told voters to choose him because of his commitment to fixing the country, rather than because he is a Christian or an Igbo man.
He further promised to begin solving the country’s problems from the North, adding that he intends to transition Nigeria from a “consumption to production” economy.
“I’ve said before: do not vote for me because I’m from the South East. Do not vote for me because I am a Christian. Vote for me because I am committed to turning Nigeria around,” Obi said.
He added: “I will do it, starting from the North, because I know where the problem lies. I will begin by restoring the productivity that once made the North safe. We will move the country from consumption to production—from sharing wealth to creating it.”
