Mbappe regrets PSG’s exit from UCL, says ‘I didn’t do enough’

Mbappe admitted the 1-0 loss PSG suffered at Parc des Princes was down to missed chances, a few of which came from him

Paris Saint-Germain striker, Kylian Mbappé, has admitted he caused his team’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) exit on Tuesday after his team lost 1-0 in front of their fans to visiting Borussia Dortmund.

During the encounter, the Ligue 1 champions had almost 70% of the possession and took 30 shots, hitting the woodwork four times.

However, the second leg semi-final loss, means Borussia Dortmund won both legs on 2-0 aggregate and progressed to the final of the competition for the third time in their history. 

Speaking after the second leg defeat at Parc des Princes, Mbappe said the result was down to missed chances, a few of which came from him.

Addressing why the French champions didn’t make the UCL final, he said: “I tried to help my team as best as I could but I didn’t do enough.

“When we talk about being efficient in the boxes, I think I’m the one targeted. I’m the guy who should score goals and be decisive.

“When things are good, I take all the limelight and when they are not, you have to take the shadow.That’s not a problem.

“The first one who should have scored tonight was me. That’s life and we have to move on, me and the team.”
