Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has denied rumours that he is planning to decamp from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
He refuted the claims in Enugu on Saturday during an interactive session with the members of the Nigeria Guild of Editors.
The governor during the parley also stressed that he is still a member of the major opposition party.
“I am still in the PDP, as you can see, the flag behind me is that of the PDP,” he said.
He went on to acknowledge that his party, the PDP is facing challenges, but added that it is not the only party in crisis in the country.

He also expressed optimism that the party will resolve its problems soon.
Weighing in on independent candidacy, Mbah noted that the Nigerian constitution does not recognise or make provision for someone to run as an independent candidate.
He continued, “So you must still do the politics as you cannot completely shield yourself from it.
“It is also clear from the people of Enugu State that we are in this to serve them. So we have focused largely on governance.
“I believe that at the end of the day, the people would have to decide whether they want to renew our mandate or kick us out.”
Mbah also revealed that the 2023 Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Enugu State, Chijioke Edeoga, had returned to the PDP, adding that he is helping to move the state forward.
