It had looked as if Chelsea substitutes Cole Palmer and Alejandro Garnacho would steal the headlines.

After Kelvin Schade opened the scoring for the home side in the 35th minute, Palmer stepped up and swept in a first-time volley to equalise just after the hour mark.

Garnacho then set up Moises Caicedo, who power in a shot past Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the 85th minute.

Speaking at his post-match interview, Maresca singled out Brentford stars – Michael Kayode, Mathias Jensen, Ethan Pinnock and Schade, insisting that they are so dangerous.

“The problem is they have Kayode, they have Jensen, they have Pinnock, they have Schade,” Maresca said.

“The thing is at the end three of those players were already out, it was just Schade, and unfortunately we just conceded in the last three minutes.

“During the game I think we tried to deal with that knowing they are so dangerous because they can arrive in the six-yard box very easily.”
